Interior decorating in Landbeach's family houses
The middle of the area's housing dates from the late 1960s and early 1970s, according to Council Tax records, with older cottages and newer builds either side. A house of that age usually has sound plaster but decades of filled holes, painted-over wallpaper and woodwork thick with old gloss. We strip what needs stripping, fill and sand, and line any wall too patchy to paint well.
Owners make up about 69% of Landbeach households, and nearly half own outright. Many are redecorating a house they plan to stay in, so hard-wearing paints are worth the choice: Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion for walls, for example, and a Tikkurila satin for woodwork.
Rooms between tenants
Around 52 Landbeach households rent privately and 56 from a social landlord. For a landlord we fill fixings, seal water marks with Zinsser and repaint in colours that are easy to match later. Our landlord decorating page covers end-of-tenancy work in more detail.

How we approach interior decorating
In a Landbeach house of the 1960s or 1970s we first check for old wallpaper under the paint, because lifting seams show through a new coat. Loose areas are stripped and lined, cracks filled and sanded with Mirka dust-free sanders, and ceilings done before walls. Skirtings, doors and frames are rubbed down, bare spots primed, and the woodwork finished in satin or eggshell. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
