Painter & Decorator Over, working from Landbeach
Graham Halpenny Decorators is a team of 12 decorators, every one City & Guilds or NVQ qualified, based at Banworth House on Waterbeach Road in Landbeach. Over is roughly 8.6 miles from us by road, north-west of Cambridge and close to the River Great Ouse.
Graham comes to look at the rooms, listens to what you have in mind and sends a detailed quotation, usually by email. Belinda then books the work and keeps you up to date. If something extra turns up once we've started, we explain it and agree the cost before going any further.
What the houses in Over are like
Council Tax records date about 37% of Over's homes to 1965–1982, with another fifth from 1983–1999. Houses of that age often come with textured ceilings, fitted kitchens and white uPVC windows, and that shapes a lot of what owners ask us about.
The older core is smaller. Around 11% of properties predate 1919, and much of that older stock is Victorian, because most of the clunch and wattle cottages were demolished long ago. The parish has 37 listed buildings, including the Grade I Church of St Mary, and an Over conservation area.
Building hasn't stopped either. About 22% of homes date from 2000 onwards, with a cluster of completions in 2023 and 2024.
The decorating Over households tend to need
With 83.8% of households owning their home, Over suits the kind of work owners plan for: interior decorating room by room, exterior painting on detached houses with every side exposed, and respraying tired uPVC frames.
Almost half the homes, 45.1%, have four or more bedrooms. Bigger houses mean longer staircases, more landings and more doors to paint, so we plan those jobs in stages and tidy at the end of each day. You don't settle the bill until you're happy with the finished work.
