Interior decorating in Over's larger family houses
With 45.1% of homes holding four or more bedrooms, a full redecoration in Over can run to a lot of rooms. We usually begin with the hall, stairs and landing, which take the most knocks and link everything else, or with whichever rooms you use most.
Owner-occupiers make up 83.8% of households, so most jobs are planned rather than rushed. That leaves time for tester pots painted in several spots, so you can judge a Farrow & Ball or Little Greene shade in morning and evening light before committing.
Rented homes and newer builds in the village
Around 15% of Over households rent, split fairly evenly between social and private landlords. For private lets we refresh rooms between tenancies in washable finishes such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion, which touches up well when the next scuff appears.
About 22% of Over's homes were built from 2000 onwards. Newer houses often show small shrinkage cracks at ceiling joints, and we fill and sand those rather than paint over them. Our interior decorating page explains the full process, and preparing for a decorator covers what to do before we arrive.

How we approach interior decorating
In Over's 1970s and 1980s houses we usually find sound walls carrying years of filler patches and dated woodwork. We fill and sand with Mirka dust-free sanders, stain-block any water marks with Zinsser, then apply two coats. Woodwork is keyed, undercoated and finished in satin or eggshell to suit the room. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
