Graham Halpenny Decorators is a Dulux Select painting and decorating company based in Landbeach, just north of Cambridge. Graham's team of City & Guilds and NVQ qualified decorators handles interior and exterior painting, wallpapering, plastering and commercial work for homeowners, landlords, schools, offices and colleges.
Every job starts with a free visit from Graham and a detailed written quotation. Your satisfaction is the whole point. We keep you informed at every step, from the first consultation to the finished room, and we're always happy to suggest ideas or offer advice.
You don't pay until you're happy with the finished work.

Consultation
Graham visits at a time that suits you, surveys the work and talks through your ideas, colours and finishes.

Detailed quotation
You receive a written quotation, usually by email, with every cost set out. We stick to it.

Preparation
Stain-blocking, filling, lining and sanding with dust-free equipment. This is where a lasting finish comes from.

Finish & tidy
Careful painting or papering, a tidy house every evening, and a walk-round with you at the end.
Graham has been my decorator now for a number of years. I wouldn't trust anyone else after a previous bad experience. So patient and kind when I changed my mind. Kept to schedule and helped with a few other minor building issues. Has a great eye for detail and the preparation was spot on. At first I thought, this is taking ages, then when I saw the end result I knew the attention to detail and immaculate prep had paid off. Highly recommended.

Graham Halpenny Decorators is a professional, friendly and exceptional company. Belinda and Graham went above and beyond to explain all the possible options to us and find a suitable time to start the job. They are excellent decorators, very patient, skilled, tidy and courteous. The quality of the work is outstanding and the final result is so impressive that after calling them for the first time to redecorate some rooms in my house, I called them again shortly after to redecorate the remaining ones. I would recommend them unreservedly.

Questions we're often asked
Quotes, insurance, qualifications and what happens if something isn't right. If your question isn't here, just ask.
What happens when I ask for a free quotation?
Graham will come to your home at a time that suits you to discuss the work, your choice of materials and finish, and the timing of your project. We'll then send you a detailed quotation, usually by email, to compare and consider.
Is this a quotation or a rough estimate?
We pride ourselves on sticking to our quotations, with no nasty surprises. If you ask for extra work, or something unforeseen comes up, we'll consult you and explain any extra charges before we carry out the work.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We hold £5 million public liability insurance, and you're welcome to ask to see a copy of the policy.
Are all your decorators qualified?
Yes. All our decorators are City & Guilds or NVQ qualified, and we are all Dulux Select Decorators. Graham is an associate member of the Painting and Decorating Association. We have been vetted and tested, and references have been taken up.
Can you handle larger jobs?
No problem. Graham has a team of 12 decorators and we take on jobs of every size, from a single room to 38 rooms at a Cambridge college.
Can I supply my own materials?
Yes, no problem, but please choose good-quality materials; they're really worth the extra money. Or we can supply everything for you.
Can you do other jobs for me?
We can take care of lots of small jobs. If we can't do it ourselves, we know someone who can: we work with a master plasterer, a master builder, a carpenter and a wooden floor specialist. Let us take care of it all.
What if I'm unhappy with the work?
Contact Graham straight away. We'll sort out any problem, and we don't expect you to pay until you're happy with the finished work.
