A painter and decorator for Comberton's homes
Comberton is a village of 972 households at the 2021 Census, roughly 4.4 miles west of Cambridge as the crow flies. Three-quarters of those homes are lived in by their owners, and 45% are owned outright.
The housing is mostly detached and semi-detached in roughly equal measure, with about 18% terraced and very few flats. Finished living rooms we decorated in Comberton are among the photos on our gallery page.
A village built mostly in the late 1960s and 1970s
The biggest group in the Council Tax figures is homes built between 1965 and 1972, about 440 of roughly 1,000 properties. Add the 1973 to 1982 band and the total reaches about 62%. Houses of that age decorate well when the preparation is right.
Only about 8% of the stock is older than 1919. Historic England lists 42 buildings in the parish, including the Grade I Church of St Mary and Glebe Cottage at Grade II*, and the village has two conservation areas, Comberton St Mary's and Comberton Village.
What we can do in Comberton
With so many 1960s and 1970s houses, three services are worth knowing about: interior decorating, painting brick, render and fascias outside and skimming dated ceilings before a room is repainted. We also hang wallpaper, paint kitchen units, respray uPVC frames and stain or varnish woodwork.
Our 12 decorators are City & Guilds or NVQ qualified and we are Dulux Select Decorators. Our plasterer Lewis and floor specialist Chris work alongside us, so one written quotation can cover the whole job.
How a Comberton job runs
Graham comes out at a time that suits you and looks at the rooms. A detailed written quotation follows, usually by email, and we stick to it, with any extras agreed first. Belinda organises the booking and keeps you up to date.
We tidy at the end of every working day and walk round the finished work with you, and payment is only due once you're happy with it.
