Decorating a town that is still being built
Great, Lower, Upper and West Cambourne together make the largest settlement in South Cambridgeshire, with 12,345 residents counted at the 2021 Census across 4,364 households. The parish only came into being in 2004 and called itself a town in March 2019,, so it is still a young place.
Homes are still arriving. VOA records list about 290 properties dated 2024 and another 230 from 2025. New owners often live with the developer's white emulsion for a year or two before asking a painter and decorator in Cambourne to add colour, and those are rewarding jobs: clean surfaces and sound plaster.
Streets finished in the early 2000s are at a different stage, with yellowed woodwork, scuffed hallways and outside timber due its first proper repaint.
What Cambourne homes tend to need from us
The housing is mostly family-sized. The 2021 Census found 35% of homes detached, 28% semi-detached and 27% terraced, with only about one in ten a flat, and more than a third have four or more bedrooms. Bigger houses mean longer landings and more doors, so interior decorating here is often a whole-house job planned room by room.
Around 17% of households rent privately, so we also work with landlords who need a quick refresh between tenants. Outside, exterior painting and garden fences and sheds come up regularly on houses with gardens on every side.
