Who this suits in Cambourne
Most houses here were built after 2000 with modern windows, so sash restoration is a niche service in this town. It suits the farmhouses and older cottages that predate the new town, and homes where timber sashes have been fitted for their look.
Our part of the job is decorative: scraping back flaking paint, filling open joints, priming bare timber and painting so the sashes still slide. Rotten timber and broken cords go to our carpenter, so you still deal with one company.
Listed and older buildings
Great Common Farmhouse is one of the two listed buildings in the parish. If you own a listed property, check with South Cambridgeshire District Council before changing window colours or details. For newer frames in plastic, our uPVC spraying service is likely to be a better fit.

How we approach sash window restoration
We scrape loose paint to a sound edge and sand with Mirka dust-free sanders, which matters on old windows where earlier coats may contain lead. Joints and sills are filled, bare timber is primed, and the sashes are worked up and down during painting so every face is covered without paint building up in the runners. The full method, products and FAQs are on our sash window restoration page.
