Is your Cambourne floor real wood all the way through?
In newer houses the wood-look floor might be solid hardwood, engineered board or laminate. Solid hardwood can be sanded several times. Engineered boards have a thin top layer of real wood that can only be sanded a limited number of times, if at all, and laminate or vinyl cannot be sanded.
Before quoting, Chris works out which of these a Cambourne floor actually is. A good first step is to look at the edge of a board at a threshold or under a removable stair nosing.
Farmhouses and older cottages
The parish does include some older buildings, and Council Tax records put about 140 properties before 1900. Where original boards survive, they are exactly what we like to restore. The Haddenham floor job shows our full process from belt sander to gold-tinted Osmo oil.

How we approach floor sanding
Chris secures loose boards and punches down proud nails, then sands with a belt sander and an edging sander, working from coarse to fine. Gaps are filled with the floor's own sawdust mixed with Induro Morrells Mix & Fill, a Mirka dust-free sander gives the final pass, and the floor is finished in thin coats of Osmo Polyx oil. The full method, products and FAQs are on our floor sanding page.
