A painter and decorator for a modern village
Roughly a third of Papworth Everard's properties date from 1983 to 1999 and nearly half from 2000 onwards. Only about one in ten was built before the Second World War. That shapes the work: plasterboard walls, softwood trim and fitted kitchens come up far more often than lath and plaster or original sash windows.
The 2021 Census counts 1,530 households and 3,821 residents. Detached houses make up 38% of homes, semis 33% and terraces 19%, with flats at about one in ten.
Who we decorate for in Papworth
Papworth's tenure mix leans towards mortgaged owners. About 45% of households are buying with a mortgage, well above the 17% who own outright, and roughly a quarter rent from a social landlord. Many homes bought new have now reached the point where the original paintwork needs a proper redecoration rather than another round of touch-ups.
For landlords we handle turnarounds between occupants, with hard-wearing finishes that are easy to touch up. Our interior decorating and exterior painting pages explain the work in detail, and wallpaper hanging suits the smooth modern walls found in most of the village.
Older Papworth and the conservation area
The village has a conservation area and six listed buildings, two of them Grade II*: Papworth Hall and the Parish Church of St Peter. Ermine Street, the old North Road and now the A1198, runs through the centre.
If you live in the conservation area or in a listed home, it's worth checking with South Cambridgeshire District Council before changing exterior colours or windows.
How a job starts
Call 07854 408573 or send a WhatsApp message. Graham will arrange a visit at a time that suits you, look at the rooms or the outside, and send a detailed written quotation, usually by email. We stick to it, and any extras are agreed with you first.
Belinda keeps you informed throughout, the team tidies daily, and nothing is paid until you're happy with the finished work after Graham's walk-round.
