A riverside parish with a long history
Historic England lists 32 buildings in the parish, seven of them Grade II*, including Ditton Hall, Home Farmhouse and Musgrave Farmhouse. The 12th-century church of St Mary the Virgin, built of Barnack stone and rubble, has a rowing eight for its weather vane, which suits a village so closely tied to the Bumps.
The two conservation areas are Fen Ditton and Baits Bite Lock. Inside them, and on any listed house, outside colour changes and alterations to original joinery are worth checking with South Cambridgeshire District Council before we start. Graham will talk through colour options when he visits.
Who lives in Fen Ditton and what they ask for
The 2021 Census counted 370 households in the parish. Detached and semi-detached houses make up nearly three-quarters of homes, about a fifth are terraced, and flats are rare at around 5%.
About 65% of households own their home and close to a fifth rent privately, so we'd expect a mix of owners planning a full scheme and landlords needing a quick refresh between tenants. We cover interior decorating, wallpaper hanging and outside painting for both.
From Landbeach to Fen Ditton
Fen Ditton sits close to junction 34 of the A14, and from our base it's about eight minutes by car. Graham visits every job himself, then sends a detailed written quotation, usually by email, and Belinda organises the dates and keeps you up to date.
We have been decorating in and around Cambridge since 1999, with a team of 12 City & Guilds or NVQ qualified decorators. Our reviews page has what customers in the city and nearby villages say about us.
