Painter & Decorator Sandy, travelling from Landbeach
Sandy is on the far side of our working area: roughly 28 miles by road, west of Cambridge in Central Bedfordshire. It's further than our usual round, but we do travel this way, and customers in Potton have left us reviews.
Graham visits first and sends a written quotation, usually by email. Belinda organises the job and keeps you informed, and our 12 decorators are all City & Guilds or NVQ qualified. We're Dulux Select Decorators, and Graham is an associate member of the Painting and Decorating Association.
Sandy's housing, from Victorian terraces to 1990s estates
Council Tax records count about 5,310 properties in Sandy. A third were built between 1965 and 1982 and another quarter between 1983 and 1999, so most of the town is later twentieth-century family housing. Around 13% predates 1919.
The 2021 Census shows an even spread of house types: 33.1% semi-detached, 31.2% terraced and 24.8% detached, with flats at 10.6%. Three bedrooms is the most common size, at 44.9% of homes.
Sandy has a conservation area, and the 51 listed buildings in the parish include the Grade II* Hazells Hall and the Church of St Swithun. Planning questions go to Central Bedfordshire Council rather than a Cambridgeshire district.
Work we do for Sandy homes and landlords
Around a third of Sandy households rent, 931 from social landlords and 671 privately, so we decorate for landlords as well as owner-occupiers. Typical jobs include interior decorating, plastering over Artex in 1970s houses and uPVC respraying.
Every job finishes with a walk-round, and you don't pay until you're happy with the finished work.
