Painter & Decorator Linton, from our base in Landbeach
Graham Halpenny Decorators has 12 decorators, all City & Guilds or NVQ qualified, and we're Dulux Select Decorators. Linton is about 19.8 miles from us by road, south-east of Cambridge on the River Granta. It's further out than our home villages, but it sits near Saffron Walden, where customers including Fenella Ashton and Fiona Flynn have reviewed our work.
Graham comes to look at the job at a time that suits you, then a detailed quotation follows, usually by email. Belinda organises the work and keeps you informed, and you pay once you're happy with the finished result.
Old High Street, newer village
Linton was granted a market charter in 1246, and its listed buildings include Grade II* houses at 1 and 3 Coles Lane, 87 and 89 High Street, and Queens House. In total the parish has one Grade I building, seven at Grade II* and 117 at Grade II, plus the Linton conservation area.
Since the 1960s Linton has grown as a dormitory village for Cambridge, and Council Tax records show it. About a third of homes date from 1965–1982 and another 16% from 1945–1964, while only around 15% predate 1919.
That mix brings two quite different kinds of job. Older houses call for breathable finishes, lining paper and patient woodwork preparation. The post-war and 1970s houses more often need Artex skimming, kitchen repaints and an exterior refresh.
How we help Linton homeowners and landlords
Semi-detached houses are the most common type in Linton, at 43.3% in the 2021 Census, followed by detached homes at 34.1%. We decorate inside and out, including interior decorating, wallpaper hanging and sash window painting for the older houses.
About 28.6% of households rent, most of them from social landlords, so we also decorate between tenancies for private landlords and letting clients.
