Painter and decorator in Mildenhall: what the town's homes need
Council Tax records date 44% of Mildenhall's homes to the period from 1965 to 1982, and the middle of the town's stock falls in the 1970s. Houses of that age can have textured ceilings, original softwood doors and windows that have since been swapped for uPVC. A further 23% were built between 1983 and 1999, and about 14% since 2000.
The older town is smaller but still there. Roughly 270 homes pre-date 1919, and Historic England lists 51 buildings in the parish, including the Grade I Church of St Mary and Grade II buildings such as 3 Market Place and 16 High Street. Mildenhall also has a conservation area, so outside colour changes on some properties may need checking with West Suffolk Council first.
A town with a large rented sector
The 2021 Census counts 4,053 households in Mildenhall. About 26% rent privately and 20% rent from a social landlord, so close to half of the town's homes are rented. That makes letting turnarounds and commercial painting a big part of what we expect to offer here, alongside work for the 52% of households who own their home.
Semi-detached houses are the most common type, at 35%, followed by detached homes at 31% and terraces at 23%. Three-bedroom homes make up 43% of the town.
How we work this far out
Graham still visits every job before quoting, even at around 25 road miles. You get a detailed written quotation, usually by email, that we stick to, and any extras are agreed in advance. Belinda arranges dates and keeps you informed, and the team tidies every day.
We are Dulux Select Decorators with a team of 12 City & Guilds or NVQ qualified decorators, and Graham is an associate member of the Painting and Decorating Association. Read what customers say on our reviews page.
