Finding sandable floors in Mildenhall
Pine boards in older houses are the classic candidates. Many homes built later have chipboard or engineered floors instead, and engineered boards can only be sanded a limited number of times, if at all. Chris, the wooden floor specialist we work with, checks your floor before anything is quoted and will tell you honestly if sanding isn't right.
Solid hardwood floors laid in more recent homes can usually be sanded and refinished well.
Floor sanding in Mildenhall: how Chris restores a floor
Before any machine starts, Chris screws down boards that rock and taps proud nail heads out of the way. The open floor is taken back with a belt sander, coarse paper first, while an edging machine deals with the margin along the walls. Dust collected from the sanding is mixed into Induro Morrells Mix & Fill to plug the gaps in a matching tone, and once a fine Mirka pass has smoothed everything, the Osmo oil is wiped on thin.
The Haddenham floor restoration used Osmo Polyx tint oil in Gold, which has flecks of 24-carat gold.

How we approach floor sanding
Chris checks the floor type at the visit, then on the day the room is emptied and doorways sealed. Heavy sanding, gap filling and small repairs follow, then a Mirka finishing pass. Clear or tinted Osmo Polyx oil goes on thinly, and skirtings are touched in after. The full method, products and FAQs are on our floor sanding page.
