Interior decorating for Sandy owners
Two thirds of households own their home, split almost evenly between outright owners (32.0%) and those with a mortgage (34.7%). In the three-bedroom semis and terraces that make up much of the town, the hall, stairs and landing usually take the most wear, from bags, bikes and pushchairs.
We protect treads and banisters, set up safe access over the stairwell and take particular care with spindles and handrails.
Flats, lets and 1970s interiors
Sandy has around 530 flats, most of them purpose-built. Flats bring their own logistics, such as parking and carrying materials up shared stairs, and we plan those at the visit.
For lets, washable finishes such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion let a landlord touch in scuffs between tenancies. Our guide to decorating costs explains what affects a quotation, and the main interior decorating page covers our process room by room.

How we approach interior decorating
In Sandy's 1960s and 1970s homes we often find decades of filler patches, nicotine or water marks and dated woodwork. We stain-block with Zinsser, fill and sand with Mirka dust-free sanders, line walls that need it and apply two coats. Woodwork is keyed, filled and finished in satin or eggshell. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
