From the old centre to the newest streets
Roughly 160 Swavesey properties pre-date 1919, according to Council Tax records. Rooms in those houses often have uneven walls and cracks that open and close with the seasons, so we fill, sand and line where needed before painting. In the 140 or so homes completed between 2020 and 2022, the walls are usually sound but the original finish marks easily, and a good washable matt makes a real difference.
Most homes here are larger than average. About 38% have four or more bedrooms, so many enquiries are for several rooms or a full house.
Interior decorating in Swavesey for owners and tenants
Around 37% of households are paying off a mortgage, a higher share than those who own outright. Owners who have recently moved in often want the whole house redone in their own colours. Rented homes make up about a quarter of the village, split between private and social landlords, and those usually need quick refreshes between occupants.
Converted flats are more common than purpose-built ones here, at about 6% of homes, so stairwells and shared landings in older buildings come up too.

How we approach interior decorating
In older Swavesey rooms we test the plaster, fill and line uneven walls, then paint with a breathable emulsion. In newer houses we wash down, fill any shrinkage cracks, and apply two coats of a washable finish such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion. Woodwork is keyed, primed where bare and finished in satin or eggshell. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
