Getting the outside ready
Exterior paint usually fails first where water sits. On a typical Landbeach house we look at the sills, the base of the render, the fascias and the bargeboards before anything else. Our survey notes cracked render, blown patches and soft timber, and any work for a builder or carpenter is priced on the same quotation.
An anti-fungal jet wash comes first, followed by time for the walls to dry out. Bare timber is primed, cracks are filled with exterior filler, and masonry and render gets a coating made for that surface.
House painting in the Landbeach conservation area
The village has a conservation area and 26 listed buildings, from the Grade I All Saints church to houses such as 22 High Street. Owners of listed homes, and of houses within the conservation area, should ask South Cambridgeshire District Council before choosing a new colour for walls, doors or windows.
We paint test patches in a discreet spot so you can judge the colour in natural light first. Our house painting page explains the survey in more detail.

How we approach exterior painting
For a detached Landbeach house we survey every elevation, jet wash with an anti-fungal solution and wait for a dry spell. Flaking paint is scraped and sanded, bare wood primed, and filler left to cure. We mask glass, paths and planting, work from the roofline down, and book outside work for the dry, mild months. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
