House painting in Waterbeach, elevation by elevation
The 2021 Census counted 786 detached and 739 semi-detached homes in the village. With no neighbour sheltering a wall, the side that takes the rain usually fails first, while a sheltered side may only need a wash and a fresh coat. Graham walks round every elevation before quoting, and repairs are listed separately from painting.
Shaded walls are where algae settles, and painting over it traps the growth. We jet wash with an anti-fungal wash and let the masonry dry fully, the same method used on the house in our exterior restoration case study.
Colours inside the Waterbeach conservation area
Waterbeach has a designated conservation area and 21 listed buildings, including Denny Abbey and the Grade II* Church of St John. If your house is inside the conservation area, a big change of colour is worth checking with South Cambridgeshire District Council before work starts.
We paint test patches on a discreet section of wall so you can judge a shade in daylight next to your neighbours' houses. Our full exterior painting service explains the survey in more detail.

How we approach exterior painting
After the survey we jet wash with an anti-fungal treatment and leave the walls to dry. Loose paint is scraped and sanded, cracks are filled with exterior filler, and bare timber on sills, doors and fascias is primed. Breathable masonry paint goes on the walls, and gutters and the roofline are done on the same ladder run. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
