Interior decorating in Waterbeach across two very different housing eras
Council Tax records put roughly a third of Waterbeach homes in the 1965 to 1982 bracket and another third after 2000, including about 770 built since 2009. Those two groups ask different things of a decorator. The older rooms usually carry decades of filler, picture-hook holes and woodwork that has been glossed too many times. The newer ones tend to show hairline cracks as they settle, and a thin trade emulsion that marks the first time anyone wipes it.
We have already carried a Farrow & Ball colour scheme through one home in the village, and the photos are in the Waterbeach colour scheme case study. Graham paints tester pots in several spots so you can see each shade in your own morning and evening light before anything is ordered.
Rented homes and end-of-tenancy refreshes
About 17.5% of Waterbeach households rented privately at the 2021 Census, and a further 16% rented from a social landlord. For landlords that means rooms needing a quick turnaround between tenants: fixings filled, water and smoke marks sealed with Zinsser, and a washable finish such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion that touches up without a full repaint.
Our page on lettings and commercial work explains how we plan those jobs around a fixed handover date.

How we approach interior decorating
In the village's 1970s and 1980s houses we strip old paper, fill, sand with Mirka dust-free sanders and line any walls that have been patched too often. In newer homes we rake out and fill settlement cracks, spot-prime, then replace the developer's thin emulsion with two proper coats. Woodwork is sanded, primed where bare and finished in satin or eggshell. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
