Planning a larger Burwell house in stages
With 76% of households owning their home, interior work here is mostly for owner-occupiers deciding which rooms come first. We can quote the whole house and then work through it over a period, doing the hall, stairs and landing in one go and the bedrooms when it suits you. Our hallway, stairs and landing page explains why that space usually takes longest.
The middle of Burwell's housing falls in the 1973 to 1982 band by Council Tax records. Rooms of that era often have textured ceilings, tired woodwork and walls papered over several times, so preparation is where the time goes.
Lettings in a village of houses
Renting is split almost evenly, with 309 households renting from private landlords and 321 in social housing. For a landlord between tenancies we fill fixings, stain-block marks with Zinsser and repaint in a washable finish such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion, which touches up well later. Flats make up under 7% of Burwell's homes, so most lets here are houses.

How we approach interior decorating
In a 1970s or 1980s Burwell house we'd strip any tired paper, fill cracks along ceiling joints, sand with Mirka dust-free sanders and key old gloss before repainting. Bare timber is primed, water marks sealed with stain block, and tester pots painted on two or three walls so you can see the colour in morning and evening light. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
