Family homes and the Park Estate
Just under half of Bottisham's houses are on the Park Estate, which dates from the 1960s. Rooms of that age often have ceilings repainted many times, woodwork with years of gloss on it and walls patched around old fixings. Most of our time goes on preparation, because a new colour only looks as good as the surface under it.
If you're unsure about colours, we paint tester pots on more than one wall so you can compare them in different light. Our living room decorating page covers the main rooms in more depth.
Tenants, landlords and shared owners
Over a quarter of Bottisham households rent, 139 from a social landlord and 110 privately, and another 22 are shared owners. For landlords we make good fixings, seal marks with Zinsser stain block and repaint in a washable matt so the next touch-up is simple. Shared owners and tenants should check their lease or tenancy agreement before redecorating.

How we approach interior decorating
In a 1960s Bottisham house we'd start with the ceilings, filling cracks and stain-blocking any old water marks, then work down through walls and woodwork. Old gloss is keyed, bare timber primed and walls given two coats of a durable emulsion such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt. Each room is left tidy at the end of the day. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
