More sides, more weather
A detached house catches weather on every face. Graham walks round the whole outside before quoting, looking for cracked masonry, blown render, failed putty and rotten timber. Repairs go into the written quotation, and larger ones can be handled by our master builder or carpenter.
Shaded walls tend to grow algae and mould. We jet wash with an anti-fungal wash and let the surface dry fully, as on the Cambridge exterior we restored, before scraping and priming.
Colours in the Hundon conservation area
Part of the village is a conservation area, and 31 buildings in the parish are listed. Check with West Suffolk Council before changing an exterior colour. Older walls also need a masonry paint that lets moisture escape, and we test colours on a discreet patch first.

How we approach exterior painting
We survey first, then jet wash with an anti-fungal treatment and allow drying time. Loose paint is scraped and sanded, cracks filled with exterior filler and bare timber primed and undercoated. Windows, doors, paths and plants are masked, fascias and gutters are done on the same ladder run, and we plan the work for drier months. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
