Mid-century houses at the heart of the village stock
Council Tax records put the median Hundon home in the 1955 to 1964 band. After sixty years or more, houses of that era usually have woodwork glossed many times over and walls patched by several owners. Good interior decorating means stripping back runs, filling properly and lining where the plaster is tired, so the new colour sits on a clean surface.
Three-bedroom homes account for 43% of households, so a typical job covers a living room, hall, stairs, landing and three bedrooms. We can do it in stages if you would rather not have every room disturbed at once.
Older cottages and period walls
In the village's pre-1919 houses, walls may be uneven and patched. Breathable paints suit them, and we often paint tester pots on several walls first. The Victorian bedrooms in Histon show the kind of patient preparation old plaster needs.

How we approach interior decorating
In a 1950s or 1960s Hundon house we fill cracks, sand old gloss with Mirka dust-free sanders and stain-block any water marks with Zinsser before decorating. Walls are lined where needed and finished in a washable matt such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion. Woodwork is keyed, undercoated and finished in satin, eggshell or gloss. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
