Keeping a good kitchen and changing its look
Of the town's households, 1,025 own outright and 1,148 have a mortgage. Both groups often reach the same decision: the carcasses are sound and the layout works, so painting the doors costs far less than a refit and avoids weeks without a kitchen.
At the visit Graham works out whether your doors are timber, MDF or a foil wrap. Timber and MDF take paint well with good preparation; some finishes do not, and he will say so before you commit.
Period kitchens in older houses
In the town's older homes, freestanding dressers, painted pine units and built-in cupboards can be repainted in eggshell for a softer look. Our page on painting kitchen cabinets covers spraying, brushing and colour choice in more detail.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
We remove and label doors, degrease every surface, especially near the hob and bin, then sand with Mirka dust-free sanders. Dents are filled, a Zinsser primer suited to the surface goes on, and the units are finished in a woodwork eggshell or satin, sprayed with the Graco Ultra on flat doors or brushed on Shaker styles. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
