Painting a kitchen you already own
Two thirds of St Neots households own their home, split almost evenly between those with a mortgage and those without. Keeping a sound kitchen and changing its colour causes far less upheaval than a refit: no units ripped out, no appliances disconnected and no wait for a fitter.
Door material is the first thing Graham looks at. Painted timber, solid wood and MDF usually take paint well when prepared, and he'll say if a finish won't hold.
Spraying or brushing kitchen cabinets, and the colour
Our Graco Ultra cordless airless handheld sprayer gives a very even coat on slab doors and long panel runs, once everything is masked. In a small galley kitchen, brushing can be quicker overall. Deep colours like Dulux Night Jewels, which we used on trim in Fulbourn, suit base units and islands. You can watch Graham using the sprayer on our videos page.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
We remove handles, label doors and degrease every surface, focusing on the areas around the hob and bin. A Mirka dust-free sander keys the old finish, chips are filled, and a Zinsser primer is matched to the surface. Top coats are woodwork eggshell or satin. Worktops, tiles, floors and appliances are masked throughout. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
