Garden timber across Ramsey
The 2021 Census counted about 2,820 detached and semi-detached homes in the town. That is a lot of fence panels, posts and gates. The posts and gravel boards at ground level usually fail first, so they get a proper coat rather than a quick pass.
We clean algae and dirt with an anti-fungal wash where it suits the timber, gently on rough-sawn panels, scrape and sand flaking paint on sheds and gates, and leave everything to dry.
Choosing a finish
Solid garden paint hides weathered grain and makes a shed a feature. Stain lets the timber show and is easier to recoat later. Graham will suggest what suits your wood and can paint small test patches first.
Please check which fences are yours; the neighbour's side needs their agreement. Our shed and fence painting page has more on sheds and gates.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Everything is cleaned, scraped and sanded, with paving and planting protected and any rotten boards flagged before we begin. We only apply coats to dry timber in dry weather, ideally late spring to early autumn. Long fence runs may be sprayed with the Graco, but only where overspray is controlled. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
