Interior decorating across Ramsey's mixed housing
Of roughly 4,500 dated properties, about 570 were built before 1919 and around 860 since 2009. Older rooms tend to need filling, lining paper and stain-blocking before any colour goes on. In newer homes the walls are usually sound, and the work is mostly a change of colour and freshening the builder's white woodwork.
The 1983 to 1992 period is the single largest band in the records, with about 820 homes. Rooms from that era often need dated woodwork brought up to date more than anything structural.
Flats, landlords and owner-occupiers
Ramsey has more flats than most places around it, about 14% of homes, and 695 households rent privately. Landlords between tenancies usually want hard-wearing finishes. Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion suits that well because small scuffs touch up without repainting the whole wall.
About two thirds of households own their home. For owners we are glad to help with colour, painting tester pots in a few places so you can judge each shade. See our reviews for what customers say about the result.

How we approach interior decorating
Graham goes through each room with you and prices it in writing. We protect floors and furniture, fill and sand, stain-block water marks with Zinsser and line uneven period walls. Bare timber is primed before undercoat. Mirka dust-free sanders keep dust contained, and we tidy before we leave every evening. The full method, products and FAQs are on our interior decorating page.
