Exterior painting on Ramsey's detached and semi homes
Detached and semi-detached houses together make up almost three quarters of the town's homes in the 2021 Census. The elevation that faces the weather usually shows algae and flaking paint long before the others.
Graham walks round every side and lists repairs in the quotation. We jet wash with an anti-fungal wash, scrape back loose paint, repair cracks in render, and prime bare timber on fascias and window frames before painting.
Older brick and the Ramsey conservation area
Around one home in eight predates 1919, and the town has a conservation area along with 60 listed buildings. On older brick and render, we use breathable masonry paint so moisture can escape. Bare facing brick is often best left alone, and Graham will say so if he thinks it is.
Inside the conservation area, check with Huntingdonshire District Council before a significant colour change. Timber windows on older houses are covered on our Ramsey sash window page.

How we approach exterior painting
For a Ramsey exterior, Graham's survey decides the order: repairs first, then an anti-fungal jet wash and a few dry days before any scraping or filling. Older brick gets a breathable masonry paint, timber is primed where bare, and paths and borders are sheeted. We book outside work for the drier months. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
