Fences on a semi-detached street
Semis are the biggest housing group in St Ives at 32.3%, and each usually has a side gate and shared boundary fences. We can only paint the side that's yours, or next door's with their agreement, so it helps to check boundaries before the visit. Gate edges and the bare end grain at top and bottom get a proper coat, because that's where water gets in.
On long fence runs, the posts and gravel boards fail first, so they get the most attention.
Sheds, summerhouses and colour
A shed has cladding, door edges, window frames and barge boards, and the bottom boards sit in splashback. Opaque garden paint gives an even colour across weathered boards, while stain lets the grain show. Test patches help you decide, and our house painting team can match the shed to your front door.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Algae and dirt are cleaned off, with anti-fungal wash where it suits, and the wood is left to dry. Flaking paint on sheds and gates is scraped and sanded and rusty hinges cleaned. Plants and paving are covered before we brush on the finish, or spray with our Graco cordless sprayer where overspray can be controlled. Bottom boards and posts get particular care. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
