Garden timber on detached and semi-detached plots
Detached and semi-detached homes together make up around 75% of Willingham. Plots of that kind often have boundary fences on three sides, a side gate and at least one shed or summerhouse. We look at all of it at the visit and flag rotten posts or boards before we start.
Sheds take the most work: cladding, door edges, window frames and the bottom boards that sit in rain splashback. Gates need every face finished, including the top and bottom edges where end grain soaks up water.
Shed and fence paint or stain, and when to apply it
Opaque garden paint hides the grain and suits a shed you want as a feature. Stain lets the grain show and is often easier to recoat on fences. Late spring to early autumn is usually the best window, and we move the day rather than paint onto damp wood.
John Dunn in Cambridge said he and his wife were delighted with their shed after Denes finished it, and there are more comments like his on our reviews page.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Algae, dirt and cobwebs are cleaned off first, using a jet wash with an anti-fungal wash where the timber can take it and a gentler method on rough-sawn panels. Flaking paint is scraped and sanded, plants and paving protected, and the wood left to dry fully. We brush most work, using the Graco sprayer only where overspray can be controlled. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
