Original frames on a 1990s house
White uPVC that has been on a house for a quarter of a century tends to go chalky or slightly yellow, even when the frames still close and seal well. Respraying changes the colour where the frames are, so nothing is taken out and the glass stays put.
Ely is mostly houses, with flats making up 13.6% of homes in the last census. In a block of flats the frames are often the freeholder's or management company's responsibility, so check with them before booking.
Before you change the colour
If your home is listed or sits within the Ely conservation area, check with East Cambridgeshire District Council before changing frame colours. Elsewhere in the city greys, greens and off-blacks are popular against brick. The same coating can go on front doors and conservatory frames, and we can match it to the rest of your exterior painting.

How we approach upvc spraying
The frames are washed and degreased to remove the film plastic picks up outdoors, then lightly keyed. Glass, seals, handles, sills and brickwork are masked before we spray thin coats of a coating made for uPVC, leaving drying time between each. It's weather-dependent work, so we book Ely jobs from spring to early autumn. The full method, products and FAQs are on our upvc spraying page.
