Bigger plots, longer fence runs
A detached house, the type behind 34% of Ely homes, can have fencing on three sides. On long runs we pay most attention to the posts and gravel boards, which sit in splashback and fail first. Where overspray onto plants and neighbouring property can be controlled, our Graco cordless sprayer speeds up big panels; otherwise it's brushwork.
Sheds need more than a fence. The cladding, door edges, window frames and the bottom boards nearest the ground all get attention, and if the roof felt is letting water into the timber we'll mention it.
Stain or paint for Ely gardens
Stain lets the grain show and is simple to recoat, while opaque garden paint gives an even colour across boards that have weathered differently. We paint small test patches so you can look at them for a few days. If the house needs doing too, our exterior house painting team can plan both together.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Garden timber is cleaned of algae and dirt, using an anti-fungal wash where it suits the wood, then left to dry properly. Flaking paint on sheds and gates is scraped and sanded, splinters taken back, and plants and paving protected. Bare end grain on gates gets a full coat. We only paint fences that are yours, or next door's side with agreement. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
