Fences, gates and sheds across Littleport
With 1,603 semi-detached and 1,374 detached homes in the 2021 Census, Littleport has plenty of garden boundaries. Fence posts and gravel boards tend to fail first, so they get a full coat rather than a quick pass. Gates are finished on every face, including the top and bottom edges.
New timber, such as fencing put up when a house was built, benefits from a protective treatment as part of the colour coats. Check what the manufacturer applied first, as some panels leave the factory pre-treated.
Cleaning garden timber and timing the painting
Algae and moss stop a finish soaking in, so we clean first, using a jet wash with anti-fungal wash on harder timber and a gentler approach on rough-sawn panels. Late spring to early autumn is the usual window, and we'll move the day rather than paint wet wood.
If the house needs work too, exterior painting can be planned alongside the garden.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Flaking paint on sheds and gates is scraped and sanded, loose fibres taken back, and rotten boards flagged before we start. Paving and planting are covered. We test colours on a discreet patch so you can see them for a few days, then apply garden paint or stain by brush, spraying only where overspray is controllable. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
