Kitchens from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s
Council Tax records date roughly 800 properties in Littleport to 1983 to 1999, and about 560 more to 2000 to 2008. Fitted kitchens from those years often have solid carcasses and doors that hang straight, with only the colour or finish dated. Painting keeps the layout, worktops and appliances in place.
At the survey, Graham looks closely at the door material. Painted timber, solid wood and MDF all take paint well when prepared properly, and he'll tell you if a finish is unlikely to hold.
Choosing a finish for painted kitchen cabinets
Cupboard doors need a proper woodwork paint. Satin is a little more forgiving to wipe clean; eggshell has a softer look. Darker shades suit base units and islands, and we'll paint a test door so you can see it in your own light. We also oil timber worktops with Osmo, as we did at the Old Telephone Exchange in Fulbourn.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
We label and remove doors where it helps, degrease every surface, and sand with Mirka dust-free sanders. Chips are filled and a Zinsser primer chosen for the existing finish. Large kitchens with slab doors suit our Graco Ultra handheld sprayer; smaller or Shaker-style kitchens are often brushed and rolled. Worktops, floors and appliances are masked first. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
