Young fences on newer estates
With 1,270 homes built since 2009, a lot of Buntingford's fencing is likely to be fairly new. Some panels and posts leave the factory pre-treated, so check what has been applied before choosing a colour. Once that first treatment fades, a stain or garden paint protects the timber and evens out the colour.
Older gardens need more preparation: algae cleaned off with an anti-fungal wash where suitable, flaking paint scraped and splinters sanded back. Rotten posts or shed boards are flagged before we start, and our carpenter or master builder can replace them first.
Sheds, gates and the weather
Gates get every face coated, including top and bottom edges where end grain soaks up water. Sheds get the cladding, door edges, frames and barge boards. Garden finishes need dry timber, so late spring to early autumn is best, and for a 43-minute drive we check the forecast carefully. If the house needs attention too, see our exterior painting service.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
We protect plants and paving, clean the timber and let it dry thoroughly. Loose paint and splinters are dealt with, rusty hinges cleaned, and posts and gravel boards given particular care. On a long fence run we may use our Graco cordless sprayer if overspray can be controlled, otherwise we brush. Test patches let you choose colours outside, in daylight. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
