New-build kitchens in a new colour
Buntingford's building boom between 2016 and 2019 added around 680 homes, and their kitchens are still young. If the doors are sound and the layout works, changing the colour is often all that's needed. Graham checks the door material at the visit, because some factory finishes need a specific primer and a few won't hold paint at all.
Fitted kitchens from the 1980s and 1990s, in the 420 or so homes from that period, are good candidates too once the grease is properly removed.
Spray or brush
On long runs of flat doors our Graco Ultra cordless airless handheld gives a smooth, brush-free coat, though it needs careful masking of worktops, floors and windows. Shaker-style doors in a smaller kitchen can look better brushed. Our guide to what affects the cost of decorating explains how the size and method shape a quotation.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
Doors are removed, numbered and degreased, with most effort on the ones near the hob and bin. We sand with Mirka dust-free sanders, fill chips, and prime with a Zinsser product matched to the existing finish. Two coats of eggshell or satin follow. We agree which runs are done first so a Buntingford family can still use the sink and fridge. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
