Kitchen painting for Melbourn homeowners
With 642 households paying a mortgage and 833 owning outright, most Melbourn homes belong to the people living in them, and plenty would rather keep a layout that works than live through a refit. Painting leaves the units, worktops and appliances where they are.
Graham looks at the door material at the visit. Painted timber, solid wood and MDF all take paint well when prepared properly; some factory finishes don't, and he'll tell you before quoting.
Preparation, then the finish
Every door is degreased, with extra attention around the hob and handles, sanded with Mirka dust-free sanders and primed with a Zinsser product chosen for the surface. Flat slab doors suit our Graco Ultra cordless airless sprayer, while panelled doors are often brushed.
Our main kitchen cabinet painting page explains spraying versus brushing in more detail.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
Doors come off and are labelled so each returns to its own hinge. Worktops, tiles, flooring and appliances are sheeted before any priming. We finish in a durable woodwork paint in satin or eggshell from Tikkurila, Farrow & Ball or Dulux, and can sand and Osmo-oil timber worktops at the same time. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
