Garden timber painting in Melbourn
Garden timber goes grey, grows algae on the shady side and splits where the finish wears through. We clean it first, using an anti-fungal wash where the wood can take it and something gentler on soft fence panels, then leave it to dry fully.
Gates are finished on every face, top and bottom edges included, because bare end grain soaks up water. Loose rust is cleaned off old hinges and latches before we paint around them.
Bigger gardens, longer fences
Detached houses make up about 37% of the village and semis 39%, so boundary fences can run a long way. On long runs we may use our Graco cordless sprayer, but only if overspray can be kept off plants, cars and next door; otherwise it's brush and roller.
If the house itself needs a repaint, we can include house painting in Melbourn in the same quotation.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
Late spring to early autumn is the best window, and we only paint dry timber with a dry spell forecast. Plants and paving are covered, flaking paint scraped, loose fibres sanded, and posts and gravel boards given a full coat since they fail first. We'll flag rotten boards before starting. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
