Surveying a Baldock exterior
Graham walks round first and notes cracked masonry, blown render, rotten timber and failed putty. Those repairs go into the written quotation before anything is painted. For bigger repairs we bring in our master builder or carpenter.
Interwar houses, about 790 of the town's homes, can combine brick with rendered upper walls and timber porches or bays. Each surface needs its own product, and masonry paint has to let moisture escape rather than trap it.
Colour, the conservation area and the weather
Baldock's conservation area and its 104 listed buildings mean some exteriors need more thought before a colour changes. North Hertfordshire District Council can tell you what applies. We'll paint test patches on a discreet wall so you can see the shade in daylight.
Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and mild weather, so we plan for the drier months and pause rather than paint before rain. Garden sheds and fences can go on the same visit with our shed and fence painting.

How we approach exterior painting
For a Baldock house, we jet wash with an anti-fungal wash to kill algae, then let the walls dry fully. Loose paint is scraped back, cracks filled with exterior filler, and bare timber primed and undercoated. Fascias, soffits, gutters and downpipes are painted in one run, and paths and plants are masked before the finish coats. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
