Saffron Walden's 1970s to 1990s houses
About 80% of homes in the town are houses rather than flats, so most owners can change their frame colour without asking a freeholder. Spraying suits frames that still seal and open properly but have yellowed, or that clash with a newly painted front door or render.
Graham checks each frame before quoting. A cracked frame or a failed seal needs replacing, not spraying, and he'll say so.
Frame colours and the conservation areas
With two conservation areas and 373 listed buildings, Saffron Walden is a town where it pays to ask before changing window colours. If your house is in either area, or is listed, check with Uttlesford District Council first.
The frames are cleaned, degreased and keyed, the glass, seals and brickwork masked, and the uPVC sprayed on site in a coating made for it. It's weather-dependent, so we book it from spring to early autumn. Timber frames on the same house can be painted to match through our exterior painting service.

How we approach upvc spraying
On a Saffron Walden house we survey each frame and note any cracks or failed seals, then clean and degrease the uPVC and key the surface. Glass, seals, handles, sills and brick are masked tightly. We spray on site in thin coats of a coating made for uPVC, on dry, mild days between spring and early autumn. The full method, products and FAQs are on our upvc spraying page.
