Wallpaper hanging in Stotfold
In the 320 or so houses built in the 1930s, and the older homes around them, plaster has usually been patched over decades. Lining paper gives the finish paper a consistent surface to dry onto and stops the old wall's flaws showing through a smooth design.
Simon, our wallpaper specialist, hangs designer and heritage papers, including William Morris designs. He checks batch numbers, sets out the pattern from the most visible wall and hangs every drop to a plumb line.
Newer houses and statement walls
Since 2009 the town has added around 1,080 homes. Their walls are generally flat, so a feature wall in a living room or bedroom is quick to prepare, and photo murals go up well once the panels are laid out and checked in order.
Stairwells take more planning: long drops, walls that aren't plumb and safe access over the stairs. Our main wallpaper hanging page explains how we set those up.

How we approach wallpapering
Old paper is stripped and the paste washed off, then cracks are filled and the wall sized or primed as the paper maker recommends. Older walls get lining paper first. Traditional papers are pasted on the table, non-woven papers by pasting the wall, and pattern repeats are planned before the first roll is cut. The full method, products and FAQs are on our wallpapering page.
