Shops, offices and town-centre premises
The 2021 Census records 72 Biggleswade households living in flats within commercial buildings, typically above shops or offices. In the conservation area, exterior colours on older premises may need checking with Central Bedfordshire Council, and older buildings bring the same soft plaster and period woodwork as older houses.
We plan around opening hours. Working areas are agreed in advance, corridors and fire exits kept clear, and shopfronts and entrances done early or in quieter periods so the door stays open. Chocolat Chocolat is one shop we've painted, and it features in our gallery.
Commercial painters for landlords and letting agents
About 1,406 households in the town rent privately and 1,376 from social landlords. Between tenancies, a flat or house often needs decorating quickly so it can be let again. Typical work is making good fixings and marks, sealing water and smoke stains, repainting in washable finishes and refreshing doors and woodwork.
Our bigger projects include 38 rooms at Westminster College in Cambridge and student flats in Colchester for JR Pickstocks. With 12 qualified decorators and £5 million public liability insurance, we can staff a job to meet a fixed date.

How we approach commercial painting
Graham visits the premises first, asks about deadlines and opening hours, and builds the room order around them. For a town-centre shop we'd sheet and section the working area, keep entrances usable and finish the frontage outside trading time where possible. Rental flats are stain-blocked and painted in washable emulsion for easy touch-ups next time. The full method, products and FAQs are on our commercial painting page.
