Who floor sanding suits in Sawston
Council Tax records list 180 homes from before 1900 and roughly 140 more from 1900 to 1939. Those older cottages and houses are where pine boards most often survive. Terraces make up 23% of local homes, and older terraced houses are worth a look under the carpet.
Some post-war houses have timber boards upstairs too. Lifting a corner of carpet is the easiest way to check before you call us.
Solid boards, engineered or laminate
Solid pine and hardwood can be sanded and refinished. Engineered boards have a thin wear layer and may only take a light sand, if any, and laminate cannot be sanded at all. Chris checks what you have and tells you honestly before anything is quoted.
Our Haddenham floor restoration shows the full process. Stairs and other timber are covered under Sawston woodwork staining.

How we approach floor sanding
Chris secures loose boards and knocks down nails, then sands with a belt sander and an edging sander through coarse to fine paper. Gaps are filled with the floor's own sawdust and Induro Morrells Mix & Fill. A Mirka dust-free sander gives the last pass, followed by thin coats of Osmo oil. The full method, products and FAQs are on our floor sanding page.
