Where Fulbourn's original boards are
Council Tax records place 170 local homes before 1900 and roughly another 120 between 1900 and 1939. Those older cottages and houses are the likeliest to have pine boards hidden under carpet. Lifting a corner in a bedroom is the quickest way to find out.
Just under 18% of homes in the village are terraced. In any terrace or cottage, the boards may have patches from old plumbing or wiring work. Most of those blend in once sanded and oiled.
Newer Fulbourn homes
Around a quarter of the housing stock dates from 2000 or later. Floors in newer houses are often engineered boards, laminate or chipboard under carpet. Engineered boards can sometimes take a light sanding; laminate cannot. Chris checks what you have before anything is quoted.
Our Haddenham floor restoration shows the full process, finished in Osmo Polyx tint oil in Gold.

How we approach floor sanding
Chris checks for loose boards and raised nails, then sands with a belt sander and an edging sander, working from coarse to fine paper. Gaps are filled with the floor's own sawdust mixed with Induro Morrells Mix & Fill. A Mirka dust-free sander does the final pass, then thin coats of Osmo oil. The full method, products and FAQs are on our floor sanding page.
