Garden timber on Milton's detached plots
A detached house usually has boundaries on three sides plus a side gate or two, so a fence job here can run to dozens of panels. Posts and gravel boards fail first, so we make sure they get a proper coat. Moss and algae are cleaned off, flaking paint on sheds and gates is scraped back, and the timber is left to dry before any finish goes on.
Only paint the fences that are yours, or your neighbour's side with their agreement, so it helps to check boundaries before Graham visits.
Shed and fence painting in Milton: paint or stain
An opaque garden paint hides the grain and gives a shed one even colour. A stain lets the wood show and is easier to recoat later. Graham recommends products for your timber and can paint small test patches so you can see them through a few days of changing light.
John Dunn in Cambridge wrote that he and his wife were delighted with the way their shed came out after Denes finished it. Our shed and fence painting page covers the preparation in more detail.

How we approach shed, fence & gate painting
We clean garden timber with an anti-fungal wash, gentler on soft rough-sawn panels, and let it dry. Sheds and gates are scraped and sanded, latches masked, end grain sealed, and posts given full coverage. On long fence runs we may spray with our Graco unit if overspray can be controlled; otherwise it is brush work. The full method, products and FAQs are on our shed, fence & gate painting page.
