Older brick, render and the conservation area
Nearly 15% of Soham's homes predate 1919, and there's a designated Soham conservation area. On older brick and render, masonry paint has to let moisture out, so we choose breathable products and repair cracks with suitable fillers before painting.
If your house is in the conservation area or listed, a noticeable change of exterior colour may need a word with East Cambridgeshire District Council first. We paint test patches on a discreet section so you can judge the colour in daylight.
Newer houses and roofline timber
More than 2,000 homes date from 2000 onwards. On those, the work is more often fascias, soffits, front doors and timber details than full masonry repainting. Graham's survey picks out failed paint, gaps where water could get in and any soft timber, and those repairs go into the written quotation.
Shaded walls with green algae are jet washed with an anti-fungal wash and left to dry before any paint goes on. Our Cambridge exterior case study shows the difference that treatment makes.

How we approach exterior painting
We start with a walk-round survey, then anti-fungal jet washing and drying time. Loose paint is scraped and sanded, render cracks filled, and bare timber primed and undercoated. Breathable masonry paint goes on brick and render, windows and plants are masked, and the roofline is done from the same access. We plan for the drier months. The full method, products and FAQs are on our exterior painting page.
