Landlords, letting agents and shared houses
The 2021 Census counts 2,542 privately rented households in Newmarket and 1,602 in social housing. Around 300 more homes are flats in converted or shared houses. For letting agents and landlords, the work is usually turnaround decorating between tenancies, planned to a handover date.
Typical jobs include making good tenant marks and fixings, stain-blocking with Zinsser and repainting in washable finishes that touch up well. Small repairs can go to our builder or carpenter on the same quotation.
Shops, offices and other premises
For a shop or office, we agree working areas, keep fire exits clear and can discuss out-of-hours scheduling so trade isn't disrupted. Exterior maintenance on business premises follows the same survey and repair process as our house painting.
Our documented commercial work includes 38 rooms at Westminster College in Cambridge and student accommodation in Colchester, the second of which is written up in our Colchester case study.

How we approach commercial painting
For a let property we'd walk through with the agent or landlord, list every room and fix, and agree a finish date. Washable matts such as Little Greene Intelligent Matt go on walls, satin on woodwork. In a shop we'd sequence areas around opening hours, use low-odour products and keep walkways clear with signage where paint is wet. The full method, products and FAQs are on our commercial painting page.
