Kitchen cabinet painting for Northstowe's newer kitchens
At the 2021 Census, 576 households here were paying off a mortgage. A new kitchen on top of that is a big outlay when the existing units work perfectly well. Painting keeps the carcasses, worktops and appliances in place and changes how the room looks.
At the visit, Graham works out whether your doors are MDF, solid timber or wrapped. Painted MDF and timber take paint well when prepared properly. Some foil or high-gloss finishes are less reliable, and he'll say so before anything is quoted.
Sprayed or brushed
Slab doors on a long run suit our Graco Ultra cordless airless sprayer, which lays down an even, brush-free coat once the room is masked. Shaker-style doors, or a small kitchen with few units, are often better by brush. Many jobs use both.
Dark base units against pale walls are a popular look. At the Old Telephone Exchange in Fulbourn the trim went in Dulux Night Jewels against white walls, and the worktops were oiled with Osmo. Our main kitchen cabinet painting page has more on finishes.

How we approach kitchen cabinet painting
Doors are labelled and handles removed or masked. Even a young kitchen carries a film of grease, so every surface is degreased before sanding with Mirka dust-free sanders. A Zinsser primer suited to the existing finish goes on next, then an eggshell or satin woodwork paint. Worktops, floors and appliances are masked throughout. The full method, products and FAQs are on our kitchen cabinet painting page.
