About us
Graham Halpenny Decorators is a Dulux Select painting and decorating company based in Landbeach, just north of Cambridge. Graham visits every job himself and writes every quotation, so the work is agreed with the customer before anyone picks up a brush. Belinda organises the projects and keeps customers informed.
Our team of 12 decorators works across Cambridge and the towns and villages around it, for homeowners, landlords, offices, shops, schools and colleges. Jobs range from a single feature wall to 38 rooms at Westminster College, and include Victorian and listed homes as well as new builds.
What you'll do
- Preparing surfaces properly: filling, sanding, stain-blocking, priming and lining where the walls need it.
- Painting walls, ceilings and woodwork to a high finish with brush and roller, inside and out.
- Protecting floors, furniture and fittings, and leaving rooms clean and tidy at the end of each day.
- Working in customers' homes, often while they live there, and talking to them politely about the work.
- Working with the rest of the team, including our wallpaper specialist, plasterer and floor specialist, on bigger jobs.
What you need
- Experience as a painter and decorator, with work you can tell us about.
- A careful, tidy way of working, and care for other people's homes.
- To be registered for CIS with HMRC, or willing to register.
- A full UK driving licence and your own transport: our jobs are spread across Cambridge and the towns and villages around it.
- The right to work in the UK.
Welcome, but not essential
- A City & Guilds or NVQ in painting and decorating: all our decorators hold one.
- Experience with period properties, specialist paints such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, or airless spraying.
